by Marumataen丸又園
A step above Asagiri in Marumataen's usucha line, stone-ground from selected Kyoto leaf. Positioned as an everyday-premium matcha rather than a formal-ceremony grade.
Editorial verdict
The mid-tier usucha — pitched at drinkers who've outgrown the entry can but don't need Zuiko's koicha-grade price.

About the brand
丸又園
Marumataen (丸又園) is a Uji-region tea wholesale house in Kizugawa, Kyoto — the Yamashiro district that supplies much of the raw leaf behind "Uji tea" branding. Founded in 1853 (some of the shop's own marketing rounds this to "150 years"), it opened a retail storefront in 1970 and began online sales in 2003. Stone-ground matcha sits alongside sencha and gyokuro in its catalogue, sold direct through its own webshop and a Rakuten storefront, with prices in the ¥570–¥5,940 range for 30–100g.
