Nakashima Seicha Honpo (株式会社 中島製茶本舗) is a historic Yame tea producer and merchant founded in 1886 (Meiji Year 19) in the Oku-Yame area of Joyo-machi, Yame City, Fukuoka Prefecture — a region considered the spiritual home of Japanese tea ceremony cultivation. With over 130 years of unbroken operation, the company has upheld the tagline 'The traditional craft of 120 years of founding is here' (創業百二十年の伝統の技ここにあり). They source exclusively first-flush (一番茶) tencha grown in the Oku-Yame highlands, shaded using traditional yoshizu bamboo screens and straw to block sunlight, then stone-mill ground to produce matcha with vivid green color, good foam, and a naturally sweet, mellow flavor.
