by Oishi Chaen株式会社 大石茶園
A 100% Saemidori single-cultivar matcha from Yame, stone-milled by Oishi Chaen. Saemidori is celebrated among cultivar enthusiasts for its exceptionally low astringency, deep umami, and fresh vegetal aroma. Yame's misty mountain air, rich volcanic soils, and strict shade cultivation amplify the cultivar's natural sweetness, producing a bright, layered flavour with a long, pleasant finish.
Editorial verdict
For cultivar enthusiasts, this Saemidori is the purest expression of Yame's terroir from Oishi Chaen — lush, sweet, and long-finishing with negligible bitterness.

About the brand
株式会社 大石茶園
Oishi Chaen (株式会社 大石茶園, OISHI TEA FACTORY) is a long-established Yame tea manufacturer founded on April 1, 1940 by Oishi Mitsuyoshi in Murotaoka, Yame City, Fukuoka Prefecture. Now led by third-generation owner Oishi Goji (大石剛司), the company has grown from a local producer into one of Yame's major wholesale tea manufacturers with capital of ¥50 million. In 1954 Kenji Oishi took over management, and the company was renamed in 1972. A landmark came in 1977 when Oishi Chaen won the Japan Agricultural Minister's Award for gyokuro quality. In 1991 they established a retail subsidiary, 株式会社お茶村 (Ochamura), to reach consumers directly. The company invested in CCD optical sorting systems in 2008 and achieved FSSC22000 food safety certification and JAS Organic certification in 2018. Oishi Chaen exports its Yame matcha and gyokuro to over 40 countries worldwide. Their matcha is described as a rich, well-balanced blend of umami from Yame tencha, crafted for a mellow and blissful cup.
