森半
Morihan (森半) is the flagship tea brand of Kyoei Seicha Co., Ltd., tracing its roots to 1836 when Morishita Hanzaemon founded Morihan Seichajo in Ogura, Uji. The brand spans ceremonial Uji matcha, single-cultivar matcha, practice-grade matcha, tea drinks, and sweets while presenting itself around the motto of tradition and innovation.
Brand story
Morihan began in Uji-Ogura in 1836, later joined forces with Matsumotoken Chaho to form Kyoei Seicha in 1940, and built a reputation on both heritage and product innovation: the company history credits it with early cold-brew hyocha, vacuum-packed green tea, foaming matcha au lait, and the 2023 opening of TEA SQUARE MORIHAN in Uji. Its current manufacturing network includes Uji factories and the Kyoto Techno Center, while the corporate headquarters remain in Osaka.
