福寿園
One of Japan's largest and most influential historic tea companies, founded in 1790 in Yamashiro, Kyoto. Fukujuen spans premium Uji ceremonial matcha to broad retail distribution across 50+ countries, producing all grades of tencha stone-milled in-house.
Brand story
Founded in Kansei 2 (1790), Fukujuen takes its name from founder surname 'Fukui' (福), 'cha-ju' meaning 108 years of tea longevity (寿), and 'en' for garden (園). Over two centuries it grew from a Yamashiro tea merchant into a national institution with 570 employees, pairing heritage Uji tencha cultivation with modern research, tea ceremony partnerships, and product innovation. Its family precept—'Musei Kojin' (無声呼人, 'summoning people without words')—reflects a tradition of quality speaking for itself.
