On TOBI-EN's official Japanese about page, founder Tobias Baer says he first visited Japan in 2005, discovered the taste of real green tea in Uji, then spent eight years working at a long-established tea shop there. He frames TOBI-EN as a way to make high-quality Uji tea more accessible while sharing the spirit of classical tea culture and shipping freshly prepared tea from Uji to customers in Japan and abroad.
