Founded in 1854 in Uji by the Nakamura family, the house built its reputation on meticulous shade-growing and stone-milling of Uji tencha. The brand’s signature Nama-cha Jelly (生茶ゼリイ) popularized matcha as a dessert medium across Japan. Today Nakamura Tokichi operates its Uji Honten, multiple Tokyo locations including GINZA SIX, and a global online shop (global.tokichi.jp), shipping worldwide while maintaining partnerships with the Urasenke and Omotesenke tea ceremony schools.
