Kyoto Obubu Tea Farms is a tea producer based in Wazuka, Kyoto, founded in 2004 by Akihiro Kita and Yasuharu Matsumoto. The company grows and sells tea from Wazuka and operates tea tours, internships, and educational programs around Japanese tea.

Obubu was conceived as an agricultural social venture with a dual mission: revitalize Wazuka's tea-farming community and introduce global audiences to the craft behind Japanese tea. Founders Akky and Matsu built the operation around radical transparency — opening the farm to interns, researchers, and tourists rather than selling through intermediaries. Where most Japanese tea brands guard provenance details, Obubu publishes field notes, hosts harvest experiences, and ships directly to subscribers in dozens of countries. That openness made Obubu one of the first Japanese tea producers to build a genuinely global fanbase without sacrificing terroir or tradition.
